Social Determinants of Health
Did you know that up to 80% of a person’s health is influenced by where they live? The social determinants of health are non-medical factors in the conditions where people are born, live, learn, work, and play that influence their health outcomes. They include things like:
- Nutrition and food security
- Employment and income
- Housing and homelessness
- Access to transportation
- Access to affordable healthcare, including vision, dental, and mental health services
- Education, including tutoring, early childhood development, afterschool programs
- Social connectivity
