Early Childhood and Physical Health & Wellness are two funding priority goal areas for 1889 Foundation. With that in mind, 1889 Foundation is proud to provide funding for teens and children aged 17 and under in a variety of running events this year.

Healthy Kids Running Series

  • Spring session and fall session
  • Highland Regional Park
  • Ages 2 through 8th-grade
  • Races are held once per week (April 13, April 27, May 4, May 11, and May 18) at 4:30 p.m.
  • 50-yard dash, 75-yard dash, ¼ miler, ½ miler, and 1-miler
    • 75-yard dash adaptive race for children with disabilities and special needs (allows for parents, siblings, and friends to be on the course with the runs to provide support as well as bringing their own supportive devices such as crutches, braces, wheelchairs, etc. to be used by racers)

Path of the Flood Historic Races

  • Saturday, May 24
  • 14-miler, 8-miler, and 5K
  • Event hosted by Heritage Johnstown and the Cambria County Conservation & Recreation Authority. All proceeds benefit Cambria County Trails and the heritage of the Johnstown region.
