At this year’s annual Chef Auction, held in October, the 1889 Foundation provided a $15,000 donation to the Pennsylvania Highlands Community College Foundation to benefit the Supporting Scholars Fund and future culinary arts scholarships at the college.
The Chef Auction started more than 15 years ago under 1889 Foundation’s predecessor foundation. In 2023, 1889 Foundation passed the annual Chef Auction event to the Pennsylvania Highlands Community College Foundation.
This year, over 200 attendees enjoyed appetizers, a bar, silent and live auctions, tastings, and even live entertainment. Eight restaurants provided dinner with some even supplying packages for live auctions.
1889 Foundation also provided last year to support Penn Highlands’ new Culinary Education Center which helps prepare students pursuing their passion for culinary arts.
