The 1889 Jefferson Center for Population Health is asking national organizations for proposals to bring proven community interventions against diabetes to Cambria and Somerset Counties. As a Tribune-Democrat article about the initiative states, “In its initial research, the population health center has identified education, health literacy, social support, employment, worksite wellness and access to healthy foods, adequate housing and transportation as the key barriers in Cambria and Somerset counties. Those areas will be targeted by the national organizations vying to participate.”
Proposals for the $2 million initiative are due in late August, and the CPH hopes to announce the selected program in November. Implementation should begin in early 2019. A webinar for interested applicants will be offered on July 16, 2018 from 4:00-5:00 pm.
